In addition to the various programs and curriculum normally offered by Angelina College, Panola College in neighboring Shelby County has agreed to partner with Angelina College to offer a Petroleum Technology certification and associate's degree program with classes at the Nacogdoches Training Center.
NOTE: Angelina College does not currently offer this program at its main campus.
Nacogdoches County is located at the edge of the Haynesville Shale, the one of the largest proven reservoirs of natural gas in the U.S. Skilled workers in this industry sector are in huge demand by the oil and gas companies and the Petroleum Technology Program is designed to meet the needs of those employers.
The first classes in support of the Petroleum Technology program began in January 2012.
The Nacogdoches Technical Training Center will offer students the opportunity to pursue an Associate of Applied Sciences degree in Petroleum Technology, in addition to various Certificates of Proficiency. See below for list of courses required for each:
It is our intent to have the full suite of training equipment needed for the Petroleum Technology certification and degree program at the Nacogdoches Technical Training Center. We are in the process of soliciting funds to purchase this equipment.
